Post-Construction Cleaning Mississauga
Handover is a date, not a suggestion. We clear construction dust from Mississauga builds and fit-outs on the schedule your project actually runs to, in three phases rather than one heroic clean at the end.

What it is
What is post-construction cleaning?
Post-construction cleaning is the removal of construction dust, debris and residue from a newly built or renovated space so it can be handed over and occupied. It runs in three phases: a rough clean after the heavy trades, a final detail clean after every trade finishes, and a touch-up immediately before handover.
The reason it is a separate trade rather than a bigger version of ordinary cleaning is the dust itself. Construction dust is far finer than household soil, so it stays airborne for hours and re-settles on surfaces already cleaned. It is abrasive, because it carries silica and mineral particles, so wiping it across new coated glass or a fresh finish causes permanent scratching. And it travels into cabinetry, above ceiling tiles, into ductwork and every track and reveal.
That is why the work needs HEPA filtration rather than a standard vacuum, damp methods rather than dry dusting, and multiple passes with settling time between them.
The three phases
What each phase removes, and what skipping it costs
| Phase | When | Purpose | Skipping it costs you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rough clean | After framing, mechanical and drywall | Bulk debris removal, make the site workable | Trades work slower, dust migrates everywhere |
| Final clean | After all trades, before handover | Detail clean of every surface and fixture | Handover fails, deficiency list grows |
| Touch-up | Day before occupancy | Settled dust, fingerprints, last marks | Client walks into a space that looks unfinished |
Small fit-outs can often fold the rough clean into general site management and run only a final and a touch-up. On anything larger, or anything with significant drywall work, skipping the rough clean reliably costs more than it saves. Full detail in the three phases explained.
Scope
What a final clean covers
- Full detail dusting from ceiling down, including vents, sprinkler heads and ledges
- Interior and exterior glass where accessible, plus frames and tracks
- Protective film, adhesive residue, paint speck and grout haze removed
- All millwork, cabinetry and shelving cleaned inside and out
- Fixtures, switch plates, door hardware and handrails detailed
- Washrooms fully cleaned and disinfected, including grout haze
- Kitchens and staff areas, appliances inside and out
- Floor treatment matched to each surface, which is where most labour goes
- Debris removal along a protected route to the dock
Order is not optional. Cleaning runs top to bottom, because anything else means cleaning the floors twice. A crew that starts on the floors has not done this before.
Where we work
Mississauga districts we clean
Mississauga is not one market. A warehouse fit-out in Heartland and a condo tower at City Centre need different access planning, different debris routing and different scheduling.
Heartland Business Community
One of the largest business parks in Canada. Industrial and warehouse fit-outs with dock access, high ceilings and significant floor area. Dust settles on racking and mezzanines that most crews never reach.
Airport Corporate Centre
Office and hospitality builds near Pearson. Tight security clearance, restricted work windows and buildings that stay partly occupied through the project.
Meadowvale Business Park
Corporate campuses and research space. Often phased renovations where occupied floors sit directly above active work.
City Centre and Square One
Condo towers and retail. Elevator booking, protected routes through finished common areas, and strict debris scheduling.
Sheridan Park
Research and lab space, where equipment-adjacent cleaning needs manufacturer-safe products and a documented method.
Dixie, Tomken and the industrial corridor
Warehouse and light industrial turnover, usually on a tight window between tenants.
Occupied buildings
Renovations while tenants are still in the building
New builds are the easy case, because nobody is using the space. A renovation on the third floor of a working Mississauga office building is a different problem: the dust does not respect the hoarding, and the people affected are tenants who did not choose the project.
- 01
Containment at the boundary
Tack mats at every exit from the work zone, sealed hoarding, and negative air where the work is heavy. Most dust migration happens through foot traffic rather than through the air.
- 02
Daily cleaning of adjacent areas
Corridors, lifts and stairwells serving the work zone need daily attention for the duration, not weekly. This is the line item most often missed, and the one tenants judge the project by.
- 03
Protecting the route out
Debris removal follows a fixed path to the loading dock. That path takes disproportionate wear and needs protection and cleaning on the same schedule as the work.
Pricing
What drives the price
Post-construction work is quoted per site after a walkthrough, because dust load and access govern the labour far more than floor area alone.
- Square footage and how many phases you book.
- Number of different floor surfaces. Mixed surfaces need mixed methods.
- Window count and accessibility, including whether film removal is needed.
- Ceiling height, which decides whether high dusting needs lift access.
- Washroom and kitchen count, the most labour-dense rooms in any fit-out.
- How much dust was left to settle, which is the variable you control by not skipping the rough clean.
- Site constraints: dock access, elevator booking, security escort, after-hours work.

Post-construction cleaning FAQ
Practical answers for Mississauga contractors, developers and property managers.
What is post-construction cleaning?
Post-construction cleaning is the removal of construction dust, debris and residue from a newly built or renovated space so it can be handed over and occupied. It runs in three phases: a rough clean after the heavy trades, a final detail clean, and a touch-up before handover.
Do you cover all of Mississauga?
Yes. We work across Heartland, Airport Corporate Centre, Meadowvale, City Centre, Sheridan Park and the Dixie and Tomken industrial corridor, from our Concord operations base.
What is the difference between a rough clean and a final clean?
A rough clean removes bulk debris mid-project so trades can work and dust stops spreading. A final clean is the detailed top-to-bottom clean after all trades finish, taking the space to handover condition. They are different jobs at different points, not different intensities of the same job.
How long after construction should the final clean happen?
After every trade is genuinely finished, including touch-up painting and deficiency work. Booking it while trades are still on site guarantees you pay for it twice, because whatever they do afterwards puts dust back into the space.
Can our regular cleaners do the final clean?
Usually not well. It needs HEPA filtration, different chemistry, height access and knowledge of which method suits each new finish. Using the wrong pad or product on new flooring can damage a surface still under warranty.
Do you clean windows after construction?
Yes. Post-construction glass needs protective film, adhesive, paint speck and grout haze removed, each by a different method. It is skilled work, because the wrong tool on new coated glass causes permanent scratching. See commercial window cleaning.
Can you work around an occupied building?
Yes, and occupied renovations need containment plus daily cleaning of adjacent corridors, lifts and stairwells for the duration, not just a clean at the end. That is written into the scope from day one.
How is post-construction cleaning priced?
Per site after a walkthrough, with each phase quoted separately so you can see what the rough clean saves on the final. Square footage, floor surface mix, window count, ceiling height and site access all move the number.
How quickly can you quote?
We walk the site and return a written quote within 24 hours. On live projects with a fixed handover date, tell us the date first and we will work backwards from it.
Do you handle the ongoing cleaning after handover?
Yes. Most clients move straight onto a recurring scope once the space is occupied. See office and commercial cleaning or janitorial services.
