The final clean that makes it ready
Post-renovation cleaning is the final clean that removes construction dust, adhesive residue, paint overspray and protective coverings after trades finish, bringing a space to occupancy standard.
It differs from regular cleaning because construction dust is abrasive mineral dust that settles for days after the work stops, so a single pass never holds.
A space cleaned once on the day the trades leave looks finished that afternoon, and dusty again by morning. The dust that ruins a handover was still in the air when the crew left.
Built for how construction works
| Phase | When | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Rough clean | Trades still on site | Debris removal, waste consolidation and sweeping so trades can work safely and inspections can proceed. |
| Main clean | After trades finish | Full surface clean, adhesive and label removal, fixtures, inside cabinetry, glass, floors taken to finish. |
| Final detail | 24 to 72 hours later | Settled dust removed, glass and stainless re-done, marks lifted, space released for occupancy. |
The gap between the main clean and the final detail is deliberate. It is the settling time, and compressing it is the most common cause of a failed handover.
Dust settles in days, not minutes
Construction dust is fine mineral particulate from drywall compound, saw cuts, grout and concrete. It behaves nothing like household dust.
- Small enough to stay airborne for hours after any disturbance
- Abrasive by nature, so wiping it dry scratches rather than lifts
- Settles gradually, so a room can be clean today and grey tomorrow
A phased schedule protects your finish, your indoor air quality and your handover date.
Thornhill areas we clean most
Yonge Street Corridor
Older commercial and mixed-use buildings, mostly retrofit rather than new build. Occupied neighbours, so dust containment and quiet hours matter more than crew size.
Centre Street & Promenade
Retail and professional units turning over between tenants. A hard date between one lease ending and the next starting, so the clean cannot move.
Royal Orchard & Uplands
Whole-home renovations and major additions. Homeowners return on a fixed date, which makes the timing of the final detail visit the whole job.
Thornhill Village
Heritage and older housing stock. Original trim, plaster and softwood floors need method chosen per surface, because a standard construction clean can damage them.
Bayview & John Street
Professional and medical office fit-outs. These have to be clean enough to receive equipment and pass an inspection, not merely look finished.
German Mills & Steeles Corridor
Light industrial and flex units. Larger concrete floor areas, usually needing the slab cleaned or sealed before racking and equipment arrive.
Thornhill is split. West is Vaughan, east is Markham.
Permits, inspections and construction waste disposal are set by whichever side your address falls on, and the requirements are not identical. We work both sides from the same Concord base, so the boundary does not change who turns up or what it costs.

Quoted per project, after a walkthrough
Post-renovation cleaning is not sold from a rate card, because two jobs of identical square footage routinely differ by a factor of three. We walk the site, write the scope, and quote against it. No lock-in, and thirty days notice on anything ongoing.
- Floor area and ceiling heightHigh-level work changes the equipment needed
- Trade statusWhether trades have finished or are still working
- Debris volumeWhat is left on site versus already removed
- Surface mixGlass, stainless and natural stone are slow work
- Floor typeWhether it needs sealing, stripping or only cleaning
- Occupied neighboursContainment and restricted hours change the method
- Access and loadingWhether an elevator or dock has to be booked
- DeadlineA compressed schedule needs more crew, not more hours
What we do not do
We are not a trade
No touch-up painting, drywall repair, caulking or fixture installation. If the walkthrough finds work belonging to a trade, we list it so it reaches the right party instead of quietly becoming a cleaning problem.
No hazardous material work
Mould remediation, asbestos and lead abatement are licensed disciplines with their own regulatory requirements. We do not hold those licences and we will say so rather than improvise.
Post-renovation cleaning in Thornhill, answered
How much does post-renovation cleaning cost in Thornhill?
It is quoted per project after a walkthrough rather than from a rate card, because identical floor areas can differ several times over depending on debris volume, surface mix and whether trades have finished. We walk the site and quote against a written scope.
How long after the renovation should the final clean happen?
The main clean happens once trades are finished. The final detail should be 24 to 72 hours later, after airborne dust has settled. Booking both on the same day is the most common reason a handover fails.
Do you work in both the Vaughan and Markham sides of Thornhill?
Yes. Thornhill is split by Yonge Street between the two municipalities. We work both sides from our Concord office and the boundary does not change scheduling or price.
Can you clean while trades are still on site?
Yes, that is the rough clean phase. It keeps debris under control and lets inspections proceed, but it does not replace the main clean after the trades leave.
Do you remove construction debris?
We remove and consolidate debris left on site as part of the clean. Large volumes of demolition material or a full bin removal are usually the contractor’s disposal arrangement, and we will say so at the walkthrough rather than after.
How long does a post-renovation clean take?
A residential renovation is commonly one to two days for the main clean plus a return visit. Commercial fit-outs depend on area and surface mix. The walkthrough gives a firm duration, not an estimate that moves later.
Do you clean windows inside and out?
Interior glass is included. Exterior glass is included where it is reachable from the ground or by water-fed pole, which covers most Thornhill buildings. Anything requiring suspended access is quoted separately and only with a certified access contractor. See our commercial window cleaning service for detail.
What about heritage properties in Thornhill Village?
Older plaster, original trim and softwood floors need method chosen per surface. A standard construction clean can strip or scratch them. We identify those surfaces at the walkthrough and adjust rather than applying one approach throughout.
Is the final detail visit charged separately?
No. It is part of the scope, because a post-renovation clean without it is not finished. If it were optional we would be selling a job we know does not hold.
Do you carry insurance and WSIB coverage?
Yes. WSIB coverage and liability insurance are in place, and certificates are provided on request before work starts. Most property managers and general contractors ask for these, and we would rather send them upfront.
Ready for a clean, safe, move-in ready space?
Book a walkthrough and we will assess the site, write the scope and hold the date. Most quotes go out within 24 hours.
